COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland basketball team looks to improve its league-leading ACC road record on Wednesday in Tallahasee (9 p.m. on UPN-20 in Washington, D.C, WB-54 in Baltimore).

As a team, the Terrapins rank first or second in 15 statistical categories within the conference. They also rank among the national leaders in several areas as well, according to the NCAA statistics released Tuesday evening.

  • The Terrapins are second in the nation in assists, averaging 18.6 per game as a team. Georgia is currently the NCAA leader, with 19.2 apg. Senior point guard Steve Blake currently ranks 10th in the country with a 6.9 assist per game average.
  • Maryland basketball is third among NCAA squads in terms of field goal percentage defense, holding opponents to shooting .376 on the season. Only St. Joseph's (.361) and Illinois (.372) rank higher.
  • The Terps rank fourth in the NCAA in blocked shots, with a 7.0 rejections per game average. Connecticut is the national leader with 7.9 blocks per game, followed by Syracuse (7.4) and Minnesota (7.2).
  • Maryland is currently ranked fourth in the nation with an 11.3 steals per game average. The Terrapins trail only East Tennessee State (12.2 spg), Alabama-Birmingham (12.2) and Stetson (11.4) for the national lead.
  • At +15.1 points per game, Maryland's scoring margin ranks sixth in the NCAA.
  • The Terps' scoring offense ranks 12th in the nation at 81.2 points per game.
