Terps Tie for Sixth at JMU Invitational

HARRISONBURG, Va. - Tyler Witman shot a 2-under-par 69 Sunday to post the University of Maryland's best round of the day and lead the Terps to a tie for sixth place in the team standings at the James Madison Invitational men's golf tournament.
Witman's 69 pulled him into a tie for 23rd individually, tying a pair of teammates at 3-over-par 216 for the tournament. John Eades also shot 216 after firing a 72 on Sunday, while Bobby MacWhinnie finished at that total following a stellar 68 on Saturday's opening round.
Maryland, which started the day in a tie for eighth, shot a 285 as a team on Sunday's final round. The Terrapins pulled into a tie for sixth with Penn in the 15-team field, shooting 863 for the tournament.
Also for the Terrapins, Matt Schall tied for 30th at 217 with a final-round 72, while freshman J.J. Occi shot a 72 on Sunday to finish at 223 and tie for 53rd. Adam Cohn, making his collegiate debut for the Terps, finished T71st at 229, while playing as an individual.
Towson won the team competition with an 839 total, five strokes better than Rutgers. Towson's Jeff Castle fired a final-round 63 to finish at 200 for the tournament, five shots better than Billy Stewart of St. Joseph's.
