* The Maryland basketball team dropped a physical contest to Georgia Tech 75-64 Thursday night at Comcast Center. The Terps fall to 13-9 overall and 4-7 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, while the Jackets raise their record to 19-6 overall and climb above .500 in the conference at 6-5.

* Georgia Tech's first win in College Park since the 1993-94 season extends their advantage in the overall series to 33-28. It is the first season sweep by the Yellow Jackets since the 1992-93 season. Maryland, however, has won 12 of the last 17 meetings.

* Travis Garrison had a career-high 16 pointson 5-of-10 shooting to lead the Terrapins, the first time this season he has led the Terps in scoring. He also added seven rebounds, while Chris McCray contributed 11 points -- his third consecutive and 13th game overall in double figures this season. DJ Strawberry also got into double figures with 10 points, his third most productive game this season and Nik Caner-Medley scored 10 points to go along with seven boards.

* Jarrett Jack led four Jackets in double figures with 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting (including 3-of-5 from long distance). He was joined in double digits by Will Bynum and Clarence Moore - 12 points apiece -- and B.J. Elder, who finished with 10 points. In two meetings against the Terps this year, Jack had 38 points. Georgia Tech shot above 50 percent for the game (26-of-51, .510) and had 11 blocks - four each from Anthony McHenry and Luke Schenscher

* Both teams crept out of the starting gates, but Garrison was a horse offensively scoring seven of Maryland's first nine points on a pair of early jumpers and a three-point bomb. The Terps manhandled Tech down low, corralling eight offensive rebounds (12 total) that resulted in numerous putback opportunities. Defensively, Maryland had four blocks in the opening seven minutes, forced five Yellow Jacket turnovers (11 for the half and 20 overall) and held their opponents to 2-of-9 shooting.

* Two consecutive follow dunks by Garrison and Mike Jones put Maryland up 22-13 with 8:28 remaining in the first half. Garrison's jam (at the 9:04 mark) gave him 11 points in less than 11 minutes, the seventh time this season that Garrison reached double digit scoring - which includes four of the last seven games. He shot 4-of-8 in the first half to pace the Terps.

* The Jackets battled back and ended the half on a 16-4 run to take a 35-31 halftime lead. Jarrett Jack led a balanced Georgia Tech effort with eight points to go along with a team-high five assists, while Clarence Moore chipped in with seven. After their opening 2-for-9 drought, the Jackets closed the stanza by hitting on 13-of-19 shots to finish at a 53.6 percent clip for the half.

* Garrison's baseline three-pointer 3:30 into the second half gave him 14 points - a new career high, breaking his previous high of 13, set earlier this season at Wake Forest.

* Two consecutive Jack three-pointers capped an 11-4 run and gave Tech a 53-40 lead with 11:56 remaining, its largest lead to that point.

* Thanks to 26 offensive rebounds, Maryland outscored Tech on second chances 18-11. Maryland finished with 44 total rebounds, the second straight game they have had more boards on the offensive glass (18 offensive, 32 total at North Carolina on Sunday).
