The No. 22 Maryland Gymnastics team defeated Towson in their first home meet of the 2005 season, 193.525 to 191.425. The Terps beat the Tigers on all four events.
Freshman Gretchen Kittelberger (9.70) and juniors Rebecca Ruppert (9.675) and Rachel Martinez (9.675) led the way for Maryland on vault. The Terps took the lead after the first rotation and would never relinquish it.
Senior Mandy Pascual continued her consistancy on uneven bars, scoring a 9.775 to pace the Terps. Redshirt Sophomore Ginny Scott followed with a 9.70, and Martinez added a 9.675 to give Maryland the win on the event (48.400)
Junior Alex Gatch was strong on balance beam, scoring a 9.80, Martinez followed with a 9.725 and redshirt sophomore Rachel Colon scored a 9.70 to give the squad the win on the event (48.300).
The floor exercise proved to be Maryland's best event. Martinez scored a 9.825 and Scott added a 9.775 to seal the victory for the Terps (48.600).
Martinez won the all-around with her highest score on the season, 38.900.
Maryland is now 3-4 on the season and will head to Penn State, Saturday, January, 29 at 2p.m.
