College Park, Md. - The Maryland women's tennis team improved to 3-4 on the season with an impressive victory over the Richmond Spiders on Saturday afternoon. The action took place at the Tennis Center at College Park and with the victory the Terps have won three consecutive matches.
Ramona But had a strong outing defeating Lindsay Cox, 6-3, 6-4 in the number one singles position. Marianne Baker dominated Robin Carter winning the match, 6-3, 6-1. Jennifer Dent blew by Courtney Klein, 6-1, 6-1. Veronika Subertova defeated Meghan Wolfgram, 6-4, 7-5, in a close matchup. Neda Mihneva overpowered Jelena Zivanovic cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
In doubles action the Terps split two matches and won the third by default. Baker and Brooke Rogers defeated Klein and Carter, 8-6. But and Tamar Huppes fell to Cox and Wolfgram, 8-4. The Terps will be back in action on Sunday at noon, when they square off against Virginia Commonwealth at the Tennis Center at College Park.
