The Maryland women's tennis team won their four consecutive match on Sunday afternoon defeating, Virginia Commonwealth, 5-2. The Terps improved to 4-4 on the season with the win at the Tennis Center at College Park.
The Terps lost the doubles point, but dominated singles play winning five of the six singles matches against VCU. Ramona But defeated Marianna Yuferova, 7-6(3), 6-3 to start off singles action for the Terps. Jennifer Dent won the closest matchup of the day. Dent fell in the first set 7-5, but rebounded to win the next two sets, 7-6, 7-6. Marianne Baker easily got past Cristina Arribas, 6-2, 6-4. Veronika Subertova fell to Viktoria Konstantinova in three tough sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. Neda Mihneva topped Vera Petiashevitch in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1. Tamar Huppes closed out the day for the Terps by defeating Alexa Korotkevich, 1-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Maryland will embark on a two-match road trip next weekend. The Terps will face Pennsylvania on Saturday and Princeton on Sunday.
