Maryland Gymnastics was defeated by the George Washington Colonials tonight, 191.750-191.050. The Terps edged the Colonials last week but could not pull off the win on the road. Maryland is now 9-8 on the season and 3-3 in the EAGL Conference.
Rachel Martinez finished first on bars with a 9.750 and Mandy Pascual added a 9.650 (tied for second) to give the Terps the victory on uneven bars (47.875).
Although the Terps struggled on vault, Angie Ferg scored a 9.775 to finish first overall. Gretchen Kittelberger added a 9.675 for fifth place. Maryland scored a 47.150 which was their lowest total of the season.
Martinez led Maryland on beam, scoring a 9.725 to tie for first place. Rachel Colon added a 9.625 for fourth place. The Terps scored a 47.650 in that event.
Floor Exercise continued to be Maryland's most consistent event. Martinez and Ginny Scott scored a 9.825 to tie for first overall. The Terps totaled 48.375 on floor.
Martinez finished tied for first in the all-around (38.550) with Erin Aiken of George Washington.
Maryland returns home Saturday, March 5 to face the North Carolina Tarheels at 1 p.m. in the Comcast Pavilion. The team will be available to sign their posters after the meet.
