
Women's Tennis Defeats Virginia, 6-1

Charlottesville, Va. - The Maryland women's tennis team recorded its second straight victory on Wednesday afternoon, defeating the Virginia Cavaliers, 6-1. The win moved Maryland to 9-10 on the season, and 3-5 in ACC play.
The Terps got off to a good start in Charlottesville, Va., taking the doubles point from the Cavaliers, by winning two of the three doubles matches. Neda Mihneva and Tamar Huppes defeated Marta Bechliwanis and Kristen James, 8-4. Ramona But and Masha Senic continued their dominant doubles play, topping Lindsey Pereria and Caroline Hammond, 8-3.
In singles action, Maryland took five of the six singles matches to earn the victory. Ramona But cruised past Kristen James, 6-0, 6-1. Marianne Baker defeated Douglas Wink, 6-4, 6-3. Jennifer Dent fell to Rachel DelPriore in a tough three set battle, 6-7, 6-1, 10-8. Neda Mihneva topped Mara Bechliwanis, 6-3, 6-2. Veronika Subertova defeated Lindsey Pereira, 6-3, 6-2. Julia Graca rounded out play for Maryland by defeateing Caroline Hammond, 6-2, 2-6, 7-6.
Maryland will be back in action on Saturday afternoon, when they host the NC State Wolfpack at noon, at the Tennis Center at College Park.
