CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Sophomore Tyler Witman shot a final-round 74 on Sunday to lead the University of Maryland to a fourth-place finish as a team at the Cavalier Classic men's golf tournament hosted this weekend by the University of Virginia.

Witman finished in a tie for eighth individually at 226. He joined two other Terrapins in the top 10 on the leaderboard. Junior John Eades closed with a 77 to finish at 227 over the 54-hole event, while sophomore Matt Schall used the Terps' best round of the tournament, a 1-under-par 71 in the second round, to also tie for 10th. Schall was entered as an individual in the tournament.

Maryland finished with a 910 total as a team. William & Mary won the event by one stroke, finishing by that slim margin over both host Virginia and NC State.

Also for Maryland, Hunter Bendall had three straight rounds of 77 to finish at 231 and tie for 19th, while Tully Coyle tied for 28th at 234. Senior Bobby MacWhinnie was 37th at 236 after opening with a 73 on Saturday.

William & Mary's Gary Barton and NC State's Taylor Crosby each finished with a 2-over-par 218, but Barton emerged from the sudden-death showdown as the individual victor.
