PRINCETON, N.J. -
John Eades of the University of Maryland shot rounds of 69 and 74 in the final two rounds Saturday to claim the individual title at the Princeton Invitational men's golf tournament held at the Springdale Golf Club.
Eades, a Terrapin junior, finished at 1-over-par 214 for the 54-hole event, which was hampered by rain on Friday. Eades won by one shot over Colin Corrigan of St. Joseph's, who closed with rounds of 71 and 72. It was his first individual title of the year.
As a team, Maryland shot 304 in Saturday's final round to finish at 894 and in fifth place. George Washington won the team title with a total of 881, earning a one-shot win over host Princeton and finishing three shots ahead of St. Joseph's.
Also for Maryland, Tyler Witman tied for ninth, posting his best finish of the spring season. He shot 72 in the final round to finish at 219. Tully Coyle tied for 39th at 229 for the Terps, while Hunter Bendall finished at 232 to tie for 50th and Matt Schall tied for 76th at 238.
Maryland plays next weekend at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships.
