
Strawberry Named ACC Player of the Week

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland senior D.J. Strawberry (Corona, Calif./Mater Dei) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week on Monday (Nov. 20). Strawberry helped the Terps moved to 5-0 on the season with wins over St. John's (92-60) and Michigan State (62-60) last week.
The senior averaged 18.0 points per game and shot 68 percent from the floor in two contests. He added 3.5 assists, and 2.0 steals last week and was named the Most Valuable Player at the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic. He tied his career high with 19 points against the Red Storm and tallied 17 against the Spartans.
It is the second time in his career he has garnered weekly plaudits from the ACC, as he was named Rookie of the Week on December 13, 2003. He leads the team, averaging 17.2 points per game this season. Strawberry has also recorded a team-high 16 steals through the first five games.
Maryland returns to action Monday night when the Terps host Winthrop. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. The game can be heard on the Terrapin Sports Radio Network and is being televised by Comcast SportsNet.
