Maryland takes on Notre Dame as part of the 12th Annual BB&T Classic. The Terrapins and Fighting Irish will square off at Verizon Center in Washington D.C. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The game can be heard on the Terrapin Sports Radio Network and will be televised by Comcast SportsNet. The matchup between Maryland and Notre Dame is the third game of a triple-header at Verizon Center. George Mason faces Bucknell in the early game, while George Washington takes on Virginia Tech in the 4:00 p.m. game.
Maryland enters Sunday's game 8-0 for the first time since the 1998-99 season. The Terps jumped out of the gate to a 10-0 start that season and finished the year 28-6.
Notre Dame carries a record of 5-1 into Sunday's game. The Fighting Irish have won their last four games, including a 90-45 decision over Winston-Salem on Wednesday (Nov. 29).
The Fighting Irish hold a 9-8 advantage over Maryland in the all-time series. Notre Dame defeated Maryland, 79-67, in the 2002 BB&T Classic.
Maryland boasts 16 players who have earned BB&T All-Tournament honors, the most of any team.
Juan Dixon was a three-time BB&T All-Tournament selection (1999, 2000, 2001), which is a tournament record.
Nik Caner-Medley and John Gilchrist earned all-tournament honors in 2004.
Three Terps have earned BB&T MVP honors: Lonnie Baxter (2001), Steve Francis (1998) and Keith Booth (1996).
The Terps face Notre Dame in the third game of the 2006 BB&T Classic. The BB&T Classic benefits the Children's Charities Foundation and has generated $6.3 million to date. This is the second year of the current format. The event was originally a four-team tournament from 1995-2004.
The Terps are 13-8 all-time in the BB&T Classic dating back to its inception in 1995.

Eric Hayes has tallied 42 assists through eight games and is well on his way to recording one of the top assist totals among freshman point guards at Maryland. Hayes needs just 46 more helpers to pass Exree Hipp for eighth on the school's all-time assist totals among freshmen. Fellow freshman Greivis Vasquez has recorded 30 assists through the first eight games of the season.
Steve Blake (2000-03) owns the school record with 217 assists as a freshman in 2000.
Maryland has opened the season 8-0 for the first time since the 1998-99 season when the Terps started the year 10-0.
Maryland's best start under Gary Williams is 11-0 (1996-97).
