
Terps Hit Road To Face Clemson

Maryland (15-8, 5-5 ACC) hits the road to face Clemson Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 8 p.m. It is the only scheduled meeting with the Tigers this season. The Terps play four of their final six regular-season games away from home, including three of the next four contests.
Maryland is coming off a tough, 96-88, loss to No. 2 Duke on Saturday. Senior forward Nik Caner-Medley paced the Terps with 22 points, nine rebounds and four assists, while sophomore center James Gist added his first career double-double with 13 points and a career-best 10 rebounds. Gist also had two assists, two blocks and two steals in 26 minutes. Maryland scored 50 second-half points in the loss after trailing by four at the break.
The Terps are led by Caner-Medley (15.4 ppg, 6.4 rpg), who has averaged 20.0 points and 7.6 rebounds the last eight games. Junior point guard D.J. Strawberry (10.7 ppg, 4.0 apg) directs the Maryland attack, while junior forward Ekene Ibekwe (10.9 ppg, 6.6 rpg) and Gist (8.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 1.4 bpg) man the paint. Junior shooting guard Mike Jones (9.3 ppg), who is averaging 13.8 points the last six games as a starter, rounds out the Terps' starting five.
Clemson (14-10, 3-8 ACC) enters the game on a five-game losing streak following a 67-61 loss at Boston College on Saturday night. Senior forward Akin Akingbala paced the Tigers with 21 points and seven rebounds, while freshman guard K.C. Rivers had 13 points and eight rebounds. Junior guard Vernon Hamilton leads Clemson in scoring with 12.3 ppg. The Tigers lead the ACC with 10.8 steals per game and are forcing 18.6 turnovers per contest.
