Ramona But and Marianne Baker again led Maryland by winning both of their double and single sets. However, Maryland could not hold on, losing the last four single sets in a row to Michigan at The Tennis Center at College Park on Saturday.
But and Baker started off Maryland in the doubles, easily breezing by their opponents, 8-0. In the second set, Veronika Subertova and Brooke Rodgers could not grasp the doubles point, losing the match 8-3. However, Neda Mihneva and Julia Graca secured the doubles point in the deciding match, winning 8-5.
But had some trouble starting of the singles, losing 4-6 in the first game. She quickly recovered, winning the next two games 6-1, 6-1. Baker also won her set 6-4, 6-2. The Terrapins could not hold on to their winnings, losing the next four single sets.
Maryland will play next Sunday at Boston College.
