Final Stats
COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
Maryland fell to William and Mary, 5-2. After winning the doubles point and one singles match, Maryland could not hold on. The women's record is now 7-4. The match was played today at the Tennis Center at College Park.
Marianne Baker and Veronika Subertova played first doubles. In a tough match, Baker and Subertova pulled Maryland's first win, 9-8 (11-9). Jennifer Dent and Michal Amir played second doubles, winning 8-5 and securing the doubles point. Third doubles Neda Mihneva and Julia Graca also won, 8-1.
The Terps started off with a victory in the first singles set. Baker captured the first set 6-4 but fell in the second, 4-6. However, Baker played hard and won the third set, 6-3, giving Maryland a 2-0 lead.
Maryland could not hold on to their victories, losing the next five singles matched. Subertova, who played second singles for the Terrapins, fell 6-4, 6-2. Mihneva and Dent also lost, both falling to their opponents 6-3, 6-4.
Amir and Graca played fifth and sixth, respectively. Amir was defeated 6-4, 6-3 by her opponent while Graca lost 6-4, 6-1.
Maryland will take on Princeton tomorrow at 11. The Terps will also host Miami on March 10 and Florida State on March 12.
