COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland basketball signees Greivis Vasquez (Montrose Christian), Eric Hayes (Potomac, (Va.) HS), Jerome Burney (Westlake (Ga.) and Landon Milbourne (Oak Hill Academy), HS) all competed in the Sixth Annual Charm City Challenge on Sunday at Towson University as the USA All-Stars fell to the Baltimore All-Stars, 92-88. However, it was Vasquez's play in particular which had everyone talking.

The 6-foot-5 guard scored 27 points in 26 minutes of play, including 8-of-12 shooting (3-5 three-pointers) and 8-of-10 free throws. He also grabbed eight rebounds, dished out four assists and had three steals. Despite playing both the point and wing guard positions against intense, full-court pressure, Vasquez had just two turnovers as he displayed poise, skill and toughness against the aggressive Baltimore guards. Among his best plays was a gorgeous left-handed no-look assist on a fast break and a nice feed inside to fellow future Terp Hayes for a driving lay-up.

Vasquez and Hayes traded off duties at point guard and shooting guard for Team USA. "We're starting to get a feel for each other," said Vasquez of the 6-foot-3 Hayes. "I can play point guard and he can play two guard so it keeps defenses guessing."

Hayes finished with four points, three assists and a rebound in 24 minutes. Burney, a 6-foot-9 power forward from Atlanta, had six points, five rebounds and five blocks in just 16 minutes for Team USA. He showed his quick leaping ability and ran the floor well. Milbourne, a 6-foot-6 small forward from Oak Hill Academy, added a bucket and a rebound in 21 minutes.
