COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The Terrapins suffered their third loss of the season today, falling 3-0 against Miami (24-30, 27-30, 14-30) at the Knights Sports Complex in Coral Gables, Fla. Maryland's record drops to 7-4 (0-2 ACC) while the Hurricanes improve to 4-8 overall (1-2 ACC).

The loss marks the first time the Terps have lost three-consecutive, three-game matches since 2000 (Oct. 24-Nov. 3).
The first game started off with Miami holding a slim lead at 4-7. At 8-13, the Terps surged ahead scoring eight-straight points on three kills by Mary Beth Brown, two Hurricane errors and Gillming's service ace and a kill to take a 15-13 lead. Maryland held the edge at 22-21, but the Hurricanes moved ahead on a Terrapin error and a kill by Genevieve Mayhew. Francheska Savage close out the game with two kills, as Miami took the first game, 24-30.
The teams posted five ties and five lead changes in the first game.
Savage finished the match with the match-high of 14 kills for a .387 hitting percentage.
The second game was a battle of endurance as Maryland played aggressively for a comfortable 7-5 and 14-9 lead in the beginning. The Terps increased their lead to 20-14 after kills by Mary Beth Brown and Meredith Doyle, which spurred a Miami timeout. Four Hurricane kills and a Terrapin error narrowed the gap, with Miami eventually evening the score at 23-23 and 27-27. Miami seized on the late-game energy, with Savage notching three kills to end the game, 27-30.
The Terps recorded a .389 in the second game, their highest of the match.
Senior outside hitter Tina Aramburu had a kill for 2-3 at the start of the third game, yet Maryland fell behind early and quickly after four Terrapin errors moved the score to 2-10, then to 10-18. The Terps never attained the lead in the third game and were held to only two kills, dropping the final game, 14-30.
The Terps return to College Park next weekend for contests against Virginia Tech (Sept. 29) and Virginia (Sept. 30) in the Comcast Center.
