Maryland returns to conference play when the Terrapins host the Miami Hurricanes on January 10 at Comcast Center. Tip-off is set for 9:00 p.m. The game can be heard on the Terrapin Sports Radio Network and will be televised by the Raycom/Lincoln Financial network.
• The Terps carry a mark of 14-2 into the contest, while Miami is 8-8.
• Maryland senior D.J. Strawberry leads the Terps with 16.2 points per game. He is 11th in the Atlantic Coast Conference in scoring. Sophomore guard Jack McClinton leads the Hurricanes with 18.1 points per game. Sophomore Brian Asbury averages 12.0 points and 5.8 rebounds per contest.
• Wednesday's game marks the 12th meeting between the two schools. Miami leads the all-time series 6-5. The teams split their two regular-season meetings last year with each school winning on its own home court.
• Maryland is 28-25 all-time in ACC home openers and 10-7 in league home openers under head coach Gary Williams.

Maryland has displayed a balanced offensive attack this season. The Terps boast the third highest scoring average in the league (81.4 ppg), and have four players averaging double figures.
• Strawberry leads the team with 16.2 points per game. Mike Jones is averaging 13.6 points per game, while James Gist has tallied 11.8 points per game. Ekene Ibekwe is averaging 10.9 points.

Maryland is ranked 25th in the latest ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, released January 8. The Terps are among the teams receiving votes in the Associated Press Poll, released January 8. The Terps made their season debut in both polls on November 20.

Strawberry led all scorers with 20 points, while James Gist and Ekene Ibekwe each recorded 11. Mike Jones and Greivis Vasquez scored 10 apiece for the Terps.
• Maryland limited Iona to just 38 percent shooting (18-of-47) from the floor.
• The Terps recorded a season-high 14 steals against the Gaels.
• Strawberry tallied five steals against Iona and moved past Walt Williams into seventh place on the school's all-time steals list. Strawberry has 177 career steals as a Terrapin.
• Senior Ekene Ibekwe recorded five rebounds and moved into a tie for 21st place on the all-time rebounding list with Evers Burns. Ibekwe has 634 rebounds at Maryland.
• Senior Will Bowers came off the bench and scored a season-high six points in 16 minutes. He also tallied two blocked shots.

The Terps have made a renewed commitment to defense in 2006-07. Maryland has forced its opponents into an average of 18.8 turnovers per game this season.
• The Terps are yielding just 28.7 points in the first half and limiting the opposition to 35 percent shooting from the field. Maryland's opponents are shooting just 28 percent (95-of-334) from three-point range.
• The Terps are averaging 8.7steals per game and have recorded 127 blocked shots through 16 games.

Freshmen Eric Hayes and Greivis Vasquez have tallied 67 assists through 16 games and are well on their way to recording one of the top assist totals among freshman point guards at Maryland. • Steve Blake (2000-03) owns the school record with 217 assists as a freshman in 2000.
