The University of Maryland opens the 2007-08 regular season when the Terrapins host North Florida as part of the 2007 O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic. Tip off between the Terps and Ospreys is set for 8:00 p.m. at Comcast Center. The game can be heard on the Terrapin Sports Radio Network and is being broadcast by ESPNU.
• Sunday's game between the Terps and Ospreys is the second semifinal in the College Park Regional of the CBE Classic. Tulsa and Hampton square off at Comcast Center at 5:00 p.m.
• The winners of Sunday's semifi nal games will face off for the College Park Regional Championship Monday night at 9:00 p.m. The consolation game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Monday.

The Terps are 100-38 (.723) all-time in regular season tournaments and have won 28 championships. Maryland captured the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic Championship last season with a 62-60 victory over Michigan State at Madison Square Garden.

Maryland enters 2007-08 as one of the most consistent winning programs in the country. The Terps have averaged 23.0 wins since the 1994-95 season, including eight consecutive 20-win seasons from 1996-2004. Maryland has made 14 consecutive postseason appearances.

Maryland head coach Gary Williams is the seventh-winningest active head coach in NCAA Division I men's basketball with an overall record of 585-328 (.641). He ranks second among active ACC coaches with 378 wins at Maryland (3rd overall) and also ranks second among active league coaches with 157 ACC victories. Williams is the Terps' all-time winningest coach.
• Williams enters 2007-08 just 15 wins shy of 600 career victories. Only five active head coaches in Division I have 600 career wins.

Maryland defeated Concordia University, 75-42, in an exhibition game Wednesday, November 7. The Terps displayed a balanced attack as 12 different Terrapins scored in the win.
• Sophomores Eric Hayes and Greivis Vasquez led the Terps with 12 points apiece.
• Senior James Gist scored nine points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds.

Maryland returns four players (Gist, Hayes, Osby and Vasquez) who each played in all 34 games last season. Those four returnees have combined for 90 starts and 239 games played.

Maryland will once again play one of the toughest schedules in the country. The Terps will play at least 11 teams which made the postseason a year ago. Maryland will also play in the 2007 O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic, which features former national champions UCLA and Michigan State. The Terps open the tourney against North Florida on Sunday, November 11. Maryland's 16-game ACC slate opens with Boston College on December 9.

Senior James Gist is poised to join elite company in the storied history of Maryland Basketball:
• Gist needs 111 points to become the 46th player in school history to reach 1,000 career points.
• With his 523 career rebounds, Gist is poised to become just the 22nd player in school history to tally 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.
• Gist is eighth on Maryland's all-time blocked shots list with 154 rejections.
• The Silver Spring native was named a preseason Wooden Award candidate.

Maryland has been a dominant home team over the years.
• The Terps are 778-276 (.738) all-time at home dating back to 1923-24.
• Maryland went 17-2 (89.5%) at home last season and is 72-14 (.837) all-time at Comcast Center. The Terps have won 34 of their last 39 at home dating back to 2003-04.
• The Terps are 227-49 (.823) at home under Gary Williams (155-35 at Cole Field House).
• Maryland is 138-21 (.865) at home the last 10 seasons (since 1997-98).
• Maryland has won 38 of its last 39 non-conference games at Comcast Center under Williams.
• The Terps are 125-2 (.984) in non-conference home games under Williams.
• Maryland was 476-151 in 47 seasons at Cole Field House; 169-90 in 24 seasons at Ritchie Coliseum and 61-21 in eight seasons at The Gymnasium.

Maryland is in its 55th season as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Terps were a charter member of the conference in 1953-54 after 30 years as a member of the Southern Conference.
