Game Notes 
The University of Maryland plays host to the Northeastern Huskies Thursday night (November 12). Tip off between the Terps and Huskies is set for 8:00 p.m. at Comcast Center. The game will be broadcast on the Terrapin Sports Radio Network and will be televised on Comcast SportsNet+.
Thursday's game marks the first meeting between the two schools in over 20 years. The Terrapins and Huskies last met November 23, 1985, with Maryland capturing an 84-72 victory.
The Terps carry a record of 2-0 into Thursday's game. Maryland is looking for its fourth 3-0 start in the last five years. The Terps have started 3-0 under Williams on nine different occasions.
Maryland has displayed a balanced offensive attack through its first two games. Four Terrapins are averaging double figures, led by sophomore Greivis Vasquez, who has tallied 19.5 points per game through two games.
Eric Hayes has averaged 11.0 points per contest, while Bambale Osby has posted 10.5 points per game. James Gist scored 16 points in his first game this season.
Maryland head coach Gary Williams is the seventh-winningest active head coach in NCAA Division I men's basketball with an overall record of 587-328 (.641). He ranks second among active ACC coaches with 380 wins at Maryland (3rd overall) and also ranks second among active league coaches with 157 ACC victories. Williams is the Terps' all-time winningest coach.
Williams is just 13 wins shy of 600 career victories. Only five active head coaches in Division I have 600 career wins.
Greivis Vasquez scored a career high 21 points as the Terrapins downed Hampton, 70-66 in the College Park Regional Championship of the O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic. Vasquez was named MVP of the region after scoring 18 points in the first game of the season against North Florida. The Terrapins enjoyed a 45-29 advantage in rebounds against the Pirates.
Senior James Gist recorded his ninth career double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds against Hampton. Gist has now scored in double figures in 15 of his last 16 games dating back to last season.
Sophomore Landon Milbourne earned his first career start against Hampton. Milbourne recorded career highs in points (8) and rebounds (4) in 20 minutes of action.
Eric Hayes scored seven points on the strength of 4-for-4 shooting at the foul line. It marked the 10th time in his career that Hayes was perfect from the foul line.
The Terps will be regulars on television throughout the season. Maryland's 2007-08 broadcast schedule includes 15 games which will be broadcast nationally on the ESPN family of networks, Fox SportsNet or ABC. All of the Terps' games in the O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic will be carried live on either ESPN2 or ESPNU, while Maryland will appear at least ten other times on the ESPN networks and at least once on ABC. The ACC Tournament will once again be broadcast live by ESPN, ESPN2 and Lincoln Financial Network. The Terps will make four appearances on the ACC Game of the Week on Fox SportsNet.
With wins over North Florida and Hampton in the College Park Regional of the O'Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic, the Terps are now 102-38 (.724) all-time in regular season tournaments and have won 28 championships. Maryland captured the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic Championship last season with a 62-60 victory over Michigan State at Madison Square Garden.
Senior James Gist is poised to join elite company in the storied history of Maryland Basketball:
Gist needs 95 points to become the 46th player in school history to reach 1,000 career points.
With his 535 career rebounds, Gist is poised to become just the 22nd player in school history to tally 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.
Gist is eighth on Maryland's all-time blocked shots list with 155 rejections.
The Silver Spring native was named a preseason Wooden Award candidate.
