Final Stats
The Maryland gymnastics team was defeated by New Hampshire in a dual meet on Saturday in the Lundholm Gymnasium, 195.250-194.550. Despite the lost, the Terps tallied a new season-best team total. The freshmen class led the team by turning in the Terrapins' highest score on three of the four events.
Beginning on the uneven bars, Freshman Margaux Meeks led the Terps by scoring a personal-best 9.825 score. Senior Angela Ferg notched a 9.825 on vault to receive the team's highest vault score.
On the floor, Freshman Brandi George turned in the team's top score (9.850) to tie for second-place with Wildcat Fairen Plummer. Junior Morgan Fishbein earned a 9.800 for a career-high event score.
Three Terps set season-high scores as the team finished the meet on the balance beam. Tied for first with New Hampshire's Jaime DeMello, George notched the team's highest beam score, 9.875, followed by matching 9.850 scores from Ferg and Talia Tossone.
Wildcat gymnasts won the three other events. Justine Turner took vault by notching a 9.850. Helena Diodati's 9.900 was the meet's highest uneven bars score. Keeley Smith won the floor with a 9.875 score.
George, the only all-arounder in the meet, set a season-high score of 39.225.
The teams with have a re-match next Friday when Maryland hosts a quad-meet with New Hampshire, Temple and James Madison at 7:00 p.m. in the Comcast Center Pavilion.
