BALTMIORE, Md. - Maryland women's lacrosse head coach Cathy Reese was named the US Lacrosse Coach of the Week, announced today. Reese guided the No. 8 Terrapins to a wild 19-18 win against No. 2 Duke on March 3 at Ludwig Field and has the Terps off to a 3-0 start.

The Terrapins' 19-18 win was the first win against the Blue Devils since 2003 and it also snapped Duke's 12-game road winning streak that dated back to 2005. The 19 goals allowed by Duke are the most in the program's history.

The Terps are off to their first 3-0 start since the 2003 season and have racked up 60 goals in three games, a 20 per game average. Those numbers are the best offensive starts to a season in program history. Maryland posted a 23-8 season-opening win on February 19 at UMBC before defeating Boston College, 18-8, on February 24.

In 1986, the Terps accumulated 55 goals in their first three games under head coach Sue Tyler.

Reese and the Terps will play a pair of games this week. First, they head to Richmond to take on the No. 13 Spiders on March 7 at 3:00 p.m. Maryland returns home on Saturday, March 10 for a noon game against Brown at the Lacrosse & Field Hockey Complex.
