Maryland Falls to No. 7 Georgia Tech, 7-0

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 67-ranked Maryland women's tennis team lost to No. 7 Georgia Tech, 7-0, Friday afternoon in an Atlantic Coast Conference match at the Tennis Center at College Park.
The Terrapins fell to 7-5 on the season and 1-1 in the ACC, while the deep and talented Yellow Jackets improved to 8-4 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
The Terps lost two of the three doubles matches. Seniors Marianne Baker and Brooke Rogers won the second doubles match, 8-7, over Georgia Tech's Kirsten Flower and Tarryn Rudman.
In the No. 1 singles slot, Baker, who is ranked No. 116 nationally, fell to the Yellow Jackets' Kristi Miller (6-2, 7-5), who is ranked No. 7. Sophomore Michal Amir battled at the No. 2 singles position, but lost to No. 97 Alison Silverio (6-4, 6-2).
Freshman Elyse Steiner fell to Flower, (6-3, 6-2), who is ranked No. 23 in the No. 3 singles slot, while Maggie MacKeever lost to No. 109 Amanda McDowell (6-2, 6-3) in the No. 5 position. Senior Masha Senic fell to No. 86 Amanda Craddock (6-0, 6-1) in the No. 6 singles spot.
Maryland will play host to No. 8 Clemson at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Tennis Center at College Park.
