The teams traded a pair of goals as it was tied 2-2 at the 20:25 mark to start the game. Kasper opened the scoring when she converted a free position chance after senior Becky Clipp forced a turnover. Cohen scored the other Maryland goal with the assist coming from classmate Katie Princiotto.
The Terps then opened up the game with five unanswered goals to take a 7-2 lead with just over seven minutes left in the half. Magor scored the first and the last goal of the run and tallied one in between to record a hat trick with 7:12 to go in the opening frame.
The streak started when junior Dana Dobbie caused a turnover on the defensive end that led to a Magor goal at the 13:00 mark. Senior Katie Doolittle then used a Kasper pass to score to make it 4-2. Pellizzi then found Magor in the middle of the zone who bounced a shot past the Hoyas' goalie. After Pellizzi won the ensuing draw, Cohen drove down the left side and beat the defense to make it 6-2 with 9:55 to go. Magor capped the run with a fast break goal after senior Jen Greenberg caused a turnover on the other end of the field.
Georgetown used a pair of miscues by the Terps to score two more before the end of the half, but Maryland also posted two more goals to take the 9-4 lead into the half. Bunny O'Reilly found an open Coco Stanwick for a score after Maryland threw the ball away with 4:41 to go. After Cohen found Pellizzi for another goal, Zan Morley drove down the middle after a Maryland defender slipped and scored uncontested with just under three minutes to go.
The Terrapins notched the last score of the half after a Georgetown turnover as Clipp raced down the field to clear the ball. The Terps set up for the last shot and with 7.5 seconds left, Pellizzi found a cutting Princiotto down the middle for the goal.
The Terps opened the second half with a goal to push its lead to six as Dobbie found a cutting McFadden down the middle for a goal just 19 seconds in. Maryland kept the five to six goal cushion the rest of the way as the team traded goals during the course of the half.
After Stanwick recorded another unassisted goal, Kasper found an open Dobbie for a goal to make it 11-5. Schuyler Sutton found the back of the cage for Georgetown to cut into the lead again, but Maryland responded off the ensuing draw that Dobbie won as she immediately spotted a wide Cohen for an easy goal to push the lead back to six.
The teams traded scores to 14-8, but Georgetown crept closer with a pair of goals to make it 14-10 with 7:48 left in the game. It was the closest the Hoyas had been since the 2:49 mark in the first half. Stanwick tallied an unassisted score at 10:25 and then Patty Piotrowicz scored another to cut the lead to four.
That is as close as the Hoyas got, however, as the Maryland defense held Georgetown at bay to take the 14-10 decision
