COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Four members of the Maryland men's basketball team took part in Sunday's (May 20) commencement ceremonies at Comcast Center. Seniors Will Bowers (Hanover, Md./Archbishop Spalding), Parrish Brown (Chicago, Ill./Kennedy King CC), Gini Chukura (Silver Spring, Md./Good Counsel) and Ekene Ibekwe (Carson, Calif.) took part in the annual spring ceremony.
All four Terrapins finished their degree within four years in College Park. Bowers, a criminal justice major in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences, appeared in 116 games for the Terrapins and was a member of Maryland's 2004 ACC Championship team.
Brown transferred to Maryland prior to his junior year. He earned a degree in Sociology. During his two years with the Terps, Brown played in 60 games and made two starts.
Silver Spring native Chukura majored in international business, earning his degree from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at Maryland. Chukura joined the Terrapins as a walk-on during his sophomore season. He played in 27 games for the Terps over the last three seasons.
Ibekwe majored in criminal justice, earning his degree from the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. He capped a stellar career in the classroom and on the hardwood. A three-time LeFrak Scholar, Ibekwe leaves College Park as one of only four Terps to reach 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 200 blocked shots in a career. He was named to the ACC All-Defensive Team as a senior and garnered All-ACC Honorable Mention plaudits.
