2007-08 Schedule

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland men's basketball team will open the 2007-08 regular-season schedule by hosting the O'Reilly Auto Parts College Basketball Experience at Comcast Center on Nov. 11 and 12, starting a campaign that will include at least 11 opponents which reached the postseason a year ago.

Maryland will play on national television 15 times in 2007-08. The Terrapins have 10 games on the ESPN family of networks, four scheduled for Fox SportsNet and one on ABC.

"Our fans deserve a tough schedule, and I think we've been able to put one together for this season," said Gary Williams, who will coach his alma mater for the 19th season. "The CBE Tournament, along with games against NCAA Tournament teams such as Illinois and VCU will allow us to find out a lot about our team early this year.

"It's a difficult schedule with a number of quality opponents that will prepare us for the Atlantic Coast Conference," said Williams.

Maryland will serve as the host to one of four regionals in the O'Reilly Auto Parts College Basketball Experience, with the Terps facing North Florida at 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 11. Tulsa and Hampton will play in the opening game that day.

The winner of the College Park Regional will advance to Kansas City on Nov. 19 and 20 for the championship rounds of the tournament. Michigan State and UCLA, each of which were in the postseason last year, join Missouri as regional hosts of the 16-team tournament.

Maryland hosts Illinois on Nov. 28 in the Big 10/ACC Challenge, a rematch of last year's contest in Champaign. The Terps will then face Virginia Commonwealth at Verizon Center on Dec. 2 in the annual BB&T Classic. The Terrapins open their ACC slate at home on Dec. 9 against Boston College in a game to be televised nationally by Fox Sports Net.

The Terrapins begin 2008 at home against Savannah State on January 2. After facing the Charlotte 49ers on the road Jan. 5, the Terps will return to Comcast Center to take on Holy Cross Jan. 8, before returning to league play against Virginia Tech Jan. 12.

The Terps will raise the curtain on the season with an exhibition game at home. Maryland will play Concordia University of Canada on Nov. 7 before facing North Florida in the regular-season opener.

In its 16-game ACC schedule, the Terrapins have home-and-home matchups with Boston College, Duke, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. In conference games at home, the Terps will also play Clemson, Florida State and NC State. Maryland will play its only regular-season league meetings against Georgia Tech, Miami and North Carolina on the road.
