3 down, 3 to go!
Well we have officially made it through the first half of boot camp, and I know everyone is amazed by how quickly these few weeks have gone by! There has been a ton of progress in the gym already and it's been awesome to have so much encouragement among the team. This year's dynamic is truly something special - we are having so much fun with each other and you can always hear laughter in the gym!
We started off this week with a lovely surprise on Sunday: NO LIFT OR FARTLEK! The coaches decided to reward us for a great recruiting weekend by giving us the day off, but of course they were sneaky and kept it a complete secret until the last possible second. I can still see the look of total shock and excitement that crossed everyone's faces when we first read that note on the weight room door! I think there were a couple squeals of delight and lots of hugs among as all in the Comcast hallway. Thanks again coaches!
With fresh legs to start off the week, everyone was fired up for practice. We started piecing together sections of bar routines, and Lisa and Valbert are already showing off some pretty impressive combinations. Lindsey and Kaitlin (or K.J. as Duke calls her) have made stellar progress on their beam series' and Brandi's layout-layouts have been nothing but solid. We also started flipping vaults this week and both of the Kelsey's are looking great. Brenner's new vault is coming along nicely and Candice's floor routine still makes heads turn. Talia's tumbling looks as good as ever and Abbey even revealed a promising full-in! Gretchen is solid on every event and I can tell she's going to have a killer year. Mo has been a great "Mo-tivator" for everyone and I always look forward to reading her quote of the day when I walk in.
Outside of the gym, the whole team has been busting their tails at spinning, pool, and lift. The hard work is certainly paying off and we are all determined to have a great season! Beyond all of that hard work we have still found time to be our typical crazy selves (the hilarious pictures taken on Abbey's computer after practice this week show our true colors!). Overall, everyone's looking great and our spirits are up - this year is going to be one to remember!
Thanks for reading and supporting Terps Gymnastics!
Allie
