COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) - Greivis Vasquez scored 22 points, Bambale Osby had 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Maryland beat Wake Forest 71-64 Tuesday night.

Freshman reserve Adrian Bowie had 10 points and eight rebounds for the Terrapins (11-7, 1-2). Maryland began the night as one of only four winless ACC teams, and one of two with two losses.

Vasquez made half his 16 field-goal attempts, scored 15 points in the second half and finished with eight assists. He was coming off a 2-for-14 shooting performance in a loss at Virginia Tech.

The Terrapins played a third straight game without starting guard Eric Hayes, who has a sprained ankle. He was replaced in the starting lineup by freshman Cliff Tucker, who scored 2 points in 19 minutes.

Ishmael Smith scored 16, James Johnson had 14 and Jeff Teague added 13 for the Demon Deacons (11-5, 1-2). Wake Forest, which was coming off a 39-point loss at Boston College, is 10-0 at home and 1-5 on the road.

The Demon Deacons went 5-for-30 from 3-point range.

Maryland led 41-36 before Vasquez followed his own miss with a layup. Seconds later, Vasquez flicked the ball away from Chas McFarland to Bowie, who was fouled and made both shots. Osby added a layup, and baskets by James Gist and Osby capped a 10-2 run that made it 51-38 with 11:23 remaining.

Smith then scored seven straight points to get Wake Forest within 6, but a 3-pointer by Maryland's Landon Milbourne and two free throws by Osby stemmed the surge.

The Demon Deacons fell behind 31-26 at halftime after shooting 29 percent, including 2-for-15 from beyond the arc.

Teague made a 3-pointer and a dunk to open the scoring, and Wake Forest took a 7-0 lead before Maryland coach Gary Williams took a timeout. The Terrapins responded with two straight baskets, but the Demon Deacons quickly made it 13-4.

Wake Forest missed its next eight shots, and Maryland took the lead for good with an 11-0 run. Wake Forest went more than nine minutes without a field goal, yet trailed only 24-20 after L.D. Williams ended the drought with a 3-pointer.
