Off And Running: Down four early on, Maryland used a 13-2 run to reclaim a 19-12 advantage with 8:06 to go in the first. The Terps would take a 16-point lead with 2:14 left following eight consecutive points by Landon Milbourne to make it 34-18.
Finishing Strong: Altogether, Maryland ended the first half on a 30-13 run. During that final 12-minute stretch the Terps were 12-for-24 from the floor (50 percent) and held Elon to 19 percent (4-of-21) shooting.
Up Big: Maryland took a 26-point lead when two Sean Mosley free throws capped a 21-2 spurt with 9:23 remaining in the game. Greivis Vasquez keyed the run with 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. The Terps' largest advantage of the night was 29, courtesy of a free throw by Jin Soo Kim with under two minutes to play.
Lined-Up for Success: Maryland improved to 6-0 with its current starting lineup of guards Eric Hayes, Adrian Bowie and Greivis Vasquez, forward Landon Milbourne and center Dave Neal. That current starting five represents the third combination used by coach Gary Williams thus far this season, though all three have involved Hayes, Vasquez and Milbourne.
Getting Defensive: Maryland improved to 10-0 this season when holding its opponent under 50 percent shooting.
Still Streaking: The Terrapins extended their winning streak to six games, the team's longest since the 2006-07 season when they ripped off seven in a row.
Venezuelan Sensation: Guard Greivis Vasquez continued to produce for the Terps, pouring in a game-high 17 points, including 3-for-3 on 3s, to go along with a team-best and season-high eight assists. It marks the fifth time this season he has led the team in both categories. The Caracas native has scored in double figures in 37 of his last 39 games.
Real Neal: Senior Dave Neal led the Terps with a career-high 10 rebounds in 22 minutes. It was the third time he has paced Maryland in rebounding this season. He also added nine points and two steals.
Charity Stripe: Maryland entered the week leading the ACC and ranked sixth in the nation in free throw shooting (79.1 percent) and continued to shoot well from the stripe versus the Phoenix, converting 11 of their 14 attempts.
Record Book Update: With 17 points against the Phoenix, Greivis Vasquez moved past Chris McCray (2003-06) and Ekene Ibekwe (2003-07) into 38th place on the school's all-time scoring chart with 1,118.
That's Comcastic: The Terps now have won 61 of 65 non-conference games since moving into Comcast Center in 2002. The team stands 93-20 (.823) all-time in games played on its current homecourt, including 8-0 this year.
Three's A Charm: With an early 3-pointer by Greivis Vasquez, the Terps extended their streak of hitting at least one shot from beyond the arc to 332 consecutive games. For the game, Maryland went 5-for-9 (55.6 percent) from long range.
Coaching Legend: Now with 614 career victories overall, Gary Williams remains in sixth place among active NCAA Division I coaches. He stands two wins behind Houston coach Tom Penders (whose squad has nine wins thus far this season) for fifth place all-time. Williams, who posted his 400th win at Maryland with an overtime victory over Vermont on Nov. 21, also now has 406 career victories as coach of his alma mater.
