COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland's James Gist (Silver Spring, Md./Good Counsel) and Greivis Vasquez (Caracas, Venezuela) each earned Player of the Week honors from a pair of national media outlets. Gist earned Sporting News National Player of the Week, while Greivis Vasquez was tabbed Player of the Week by ESPN.com.

Vasquez averaged 19.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 11.5 assists in wins over Boston College and NC State last week. He scored a game-high 25 points at Boston College and tied the school record with 15 assists against NC State. Vasquez narrowly missed just the second triple-double in school history as he finished with 13 points, 15 assists and nine rebounds against the Wolfpack. It is the first national award for Vasquez who earned the ACC Rookie of the Week honors February 19, 2007.

Gist was named the Sporting News National Player of the Week on Monday. Gist averaged 26.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and shot 76 percent (22 of 29) from the field, including 3 of 6 shooting from three-point range last week. He scored 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds at Boston College. Gist then tallied a career-high 30 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots against NC State. He was named ACC Player of the Week January 21 after the Terps knocked off then-top ranked North Carolina.

Maryland (16-8, 6-3 ACC) returns to action Wednesday (Feb. 13) when the Terps travel to face the Duke Blue Devils. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on the Terrapin Sports Radio Network, and will be televised nationally by ESPN.
