COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland baseball team plays two Colonial Athletic Association teams on the road this week, beginning with Old Dominion Tuesday night and William & Mary Wednesday evening.
The Terps head to the Commonwealth State at 8-9 overall following a tough series loss at Wake Forest last weekend.
This is Maryland's first mid-week road trip of the season.
The Old Dominion Monarchs, the defending CAA champs, have had mixed results so far this year. The Monarchs are 10-7 overall and 3-3 in league play. Old Dominion lost its last three games, all at Wednesday's Terp opponent: William & Mary. However, Old Dominion also boasts a victory at then-No. 2 North Carolina on February 26.
The Monarchs have three guys with 15 RBIs or more.
Tuesday's pitching matchup features a pair of southpaws: Senior Brett Tidball (Bethesda, Md./Georgetown Prep) will pitch for the Terps and sophomore Cory Toth for the Monarchs. Tidball is 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA and Toth is 0-0 with a 6.30 ERA.
The William & Mary Tribe are currently 15-4 and 7-2 in the CAA, including a series sweep of Old Dominion last weekend.
The Tribe is batting .367 as a team with three guys hitting .400 or better. Mike Sheridan is hitting at a blistering pace, leading the team with a .513 average, six home runs and 34 RBIs.
Maryland is 4-8 all-time against the Monarchs and 39-12-1 against the Tribe.
Due to scheduling conflicts, WMUCSports.com will not be broadcasting either game on the Internet. Neither Old Dominion nor William & Mary provide radio coverage for baseball.
