Biography

On Tidball: Lefty hurler with a tricky curve ball and good velocity ... has been brilliant on the mound at times ... challenges opposing hitters to put the ball in play.

As a Junior (2007): Compiled a 3-0 record and 6.55 ERA in 20 appearances, including three starts ... pitched 1.2 innings in relief in win over Gardner-Webb (Feb. 10) ... threw two innings, allowing one run in two hits in win at UCF (Feb. 17) ... picked up first win of the season with four scoreless innings against Lafayette (March 3) ... notched a win after pitching three shutout innings against VCU (March 21) ... started and pitched five innings, allowing no earned runs on two hits in win over William & Mary (March 27) ... started and threw three innings, allowing two runs on five hits in loss at Towson (April 4).


As a Sophomore (2006): Posted a 3-6 record in 16 appearances (eight starts) ... registered a 6.28 ERA over 53 innings ... left-handed hitters batted .247 against him ... notched the first win of his career in his first career start at ECU, yielding no runs over a then-career high six innings and retiring the last 10 batters he faced ... (Feb. 12) ... selected as ACC Pitcher of the Week for his performance ... gave up one run on five hits in 5.2 innings in a losing effort at Jacksonville (Feb. 24) ... made first relief appearance of the year at Towson, yielding no earned runs on two hits in 1.2 innings on the hill (March 14) ... came in out of the bullpen and tossed seven shutout innings, allowing two hits and striking out a career-high eight en route to the win over No. 3 UNC in Chapel Hill (March 17) ... picked up third victory of the year vs. Towson, throwing two scoreless innings out of the bullpen (April 5) ... was effective in start at Wake Forest, allowing two runs and four hits with four strikeouts in 5.2 innings before leaving with a tie game (April 23) ... allowed seven runs on eight hits with three strikeouts in five innings against UVA (April 30) ... tossed one shutout inning out of the bullpen at BC (May 7).

As a Freshman (2005): Made 11 appearances out of the bullpen ... was 0-1 with a 4.85 ERA in 13.0 innings ... walked just two batters all season (1.38 per nine innings) and had a .217 batting average against ... made his first career appearance in the second game of a doubleheader against Duquesne ... retired both of the batters he faced, one of which on a strikeout (Mar. 22) ... threw one scoreless inning of relief against Clemson, giving up one hit and one walk (Mar. 25) ... gave up one hit and one earned run in 1.2 innings of relief against Temple (Mar. 30) ... didn't allow a hit in a career-high 4.0 innings of a suspended game at Georgia Tech ... struck out three and retired 12 straight Yellow Jacket hitters after hitting the leadoff batter (Apr. 2) ... struck out two and gave up one run on two hits in two-thirds of an inning against UMBC (Apr. 6) ... made two appearances in the North Carolina series, allowing no runs in 1.0 inning of work (Apr. 8-10) ... allowed just one hit and struck out three in 1.2 scoreless innings against Towson (May 4).

At Georgetown Prep: A letterwinner in baseball (four years) and football (2003) ... All-Gazette, All-Journal, All-County and honorable mention All-Met as a junior ... went 7-1 with a 1.83 ERA and 43K's in 46 innings as a junior and was 4-3 with a 1.50 ERA as a sophomore.

Personal: Son of and Marie and Steven Tidball ... has two brothers, Matt and Adam ... Adam is a catcher in the Chicago Cubs organization ... uncle Paul McGaffigan played football for the Seattle Seahawks, and father, Steven, played tennis at UCLA ... was Spiritual Retreat leader and part of "Campus Ministry" at Georgetown Prep ... hobbies and interests include basketball and golf ... a communications major.
