
Maryland to Face Michigan State at Old Spice Classic

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland men's basketball team will take on Michigan State in the opening round of the 2008 Old Spice Classic in Orlando, Florida. The Terrapins and Spartans will tip off at 7 p.m. on Nov. 27. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2. Maryland will face either Oklahoma State or Gonzaga in its second game. Other teams in the field include Georgetown, Siena, Tennessee and Wichita State.
Michigan State leads the all-time series with Maryland, 2-1. The Terrapins claimed the most recent matchup with a 62-60 victory over the Spartans in the championship game of the 2K Sports College Hoops Class at Madison Square Garden in 2006. Maryland and Michigan State both participated in the 2007 CBE Classic in Kansas City, Mo., but did not meet in the tournament.
In its third year, the Old Spice Classic is hosted by ESPNU and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The event runs from Nov. 27-30 at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.
