Maryland finishes a two-game road swing through Florida with a noon matchup at Florida State on Saturday. The Terps are attempting to recover from a tough 62-60 loss at Miami on Wednesday night and improve their Atlantic Coast Conference record to 2-1. The Seminoles, now 14-3 overall, are 7-2 in their last nine games, including a 78-65 win at NC State on Tuesday.
* The Terrapins are three points away from a potential 10-game run. Maryland lost by one, 66-65, to Morgan State on Jan. 7, and suffered the two-point defeat at Miami on Wednesday. Despite the losses, Maryland is 8-2 in its last 10 outings, including a win over nationally ranked Michigan.
* Sophomore guard Adrian Bowie scored a career-high 23 points to lead the Terrapins on Wednesday at Miami. His prevous career-high was 17 points and the game marked the second time this season he led or tied for the team lead in scoring (11/30 vs. Georgetown). Bowie improved his scoring average to 10.4 points per game with the offensive outburst.
* Maryland has won the last two games in the series with the Seminoles, each having been played at Comcast Center. The Terps' last victory in Tallahassee came in 2003 in a 74-72 victory.
* Florida State comes into today's game with a 14-3 overall record and is tied with Maryland for 5th place in the Atlantic Coast Conference... The Seminoles lost at home to Duke (58-66 on 1/10/09) and won on the road at NC State (78-65 on 1/13) in splitting their first two league games...
* Senior guard Toney Douglas leads the Seminoles with an 18.5 ppg average... The only Seminole averaging in double figures, Douglas has hit 34 3-pointers this season and is hitting .794 at the foul line... He also heads FSU with 44 assists and 34 steals... Freshman forward Chris Singleton is the leading rebounder with a 6.1 rpg average... He also shows good range despite his 6-foot-9 height, having hit 17 treys.. He carries a 9.2 ppg scoring average... Derwin Kitchen, a sophomore guard, carries a 9.1 scoring average... Solomon Alabi, a 7-foot-1 redshirt freshman, leads FSU with 34 blocked shots and is pulling down 5.5 rebounds per game... Leonard Hamilton is in his 7th season as Florida State's head coach.
* Following the noon matchup with Florida State, the Terps return to Comcast Center on Jan. 20 for an Inauguration Day meeting with Virginia at 8 p.m... MEDIA IS ADVISED TO BE AWARE OF POTENTIAL TRAFFIC ISSUES IN THE WASHINGTON, D.C., AREA THAT DAY... The Comcast Center Media Room will open early that day for media wishing to beat rush hour... Three of Maryland's next four games are at Comcast Center... Maryland plays host to Virginia on Tuesday, 1/20, travels to Duke for a noon game on Saturday, 1/24, then has home games against Boston College and Miami to end the month of January... The Terps are 10-1 at Comcast Center so far this season... Maryland will end its regular season with 16 straight games against Atlantic Coast Conference opponents... The Terps and Miami will play in Comcast Center on Saturday, 1/31.
