
Miller Leads Terps at ITA Regional

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Maryland's Lisa Miller advanced to the round of 32 in singles play during Friday's action at the ITA Atlantic Regional which is being held at Virginia Tech's Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
The senior downed Anastasia Rukavyshnykova of Temple 6-1, 6-3 and will face third-seeded Nadine Fahoum of Old Dominion at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
The rest of the Terps didn't fare quite as well Friday, though the doubles team of Julia Huschke and Jordan Hansbrough battled before falling 9-7 to William & Mary's Lauren Sabacinski and Ragini Acharya, the sixth-seeded duo in the five-day tournament which began Thursday.
Hansbrough was defeated in singles by Martha Blakely of Virginia Tech 6-3, 6-1 and Maggie MacKeever fell to fifth-seeded Emily Fraser of Virginia 6-4, 6-1.
Maryland freshman Lexi Brand was also knocked off in opening-round action of the main single draw, falling to Victoria Sekely of Georgetown 6-2, 6-0.
In Saturday's consolation round, Maryland's Oksana Krutiyenko defeated Alice Chen of UMBC 6-1, 6-0.
