Terrapin Sports Radio Network Adds Walt Williams to Crew

Former University of Maryland All-American and NBA veteran Walt Williams has been added to the Terrapin Sports Radio Network broadcast crew for men's basketball home games this season.

He will join Voice of the Terrapins Johnny Holliday and longtime analyst Chris Knoche on the broadcasts, lending insight gained from his experience as a player in head coach Gary Williams' program.

Gary Williams has often credited Walt Williams' loyalty to the school with being a big part of the resurgence of the Terrapin program from a probationary period to its return to prominence.

Walt Williams was an All-America forward for the Terrapins in 1992. He broke single-season records at the time as a senior, scoring 776 points and averaging 26.8 points per game. He was a finalist for the Wooden Award in his last season in College Park.

Drafted by the Sacramento Kings in the first round of the NBA Draft in 1992, Williams also played for Miami, Toronto, Portland, Houston and Dallas during his time in the NBA.

Holliday is in his 31st season as the Voice of the Terrapins and is one of the most recognizable play-by-play announcers in all of college athletics. He has broadcast more than 1,100 Terrapin basketball and football games, including Maryland's run earlier in the decade to two Final Fours, including the 2002 NCAA national championship.

His longtime broadcast partner for basketball, Chris Knoche, is in his 11th season behind the microphone. His analysis of Terrapin basketball comes from his seven seasons as the head coach at American University, with his knowledge of the Gary Williams system coming from his two seasons playing under Williams at AU.

The Terrapin Sports Radio Network broadcast team is bolstered by veterans Tom Marchitto, serving as the technical director for all TSRN broadcasts and Brett Bessell being Holliday's longtime statistician.
