PRINCETON, N.J. -
The Maryland women's tennis team fell Saturday afternoon to the Princeton Tigers, 6-1. Junior Eleanor Peters won her match at No. 2 singles to put the Terrapins on the board.
Peters earned her third dual match victory on the season, defeating Princeton (7-4) freshmen Hilary Bartlett, 7-5, 6-2.
Maryland (1-6) missed several opportunities to earn wins in singles play as three matches went to deciding third sets. At the No. 3 position, Karin Lundmark fell to Princeton's Taylor Marable, 4-6, 6-1, (10-4).
Blakely Ashley bested Jordan Hansbrough at the No. 5 spot, 2-6, 6-1, 6-0, and Sarah Hoffman defeated Oksana Krutiyenko, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, to clinch the win for the Tigers.
The Tigers downed the Terps in doubles play, taking two of the three contests. At No. 3 doubles, Michal Amir and Lundmark edged out Blakely Ashley and Kristen Scott, 8-2.
The Terrapins return to action Sunday, Feb. 21, as they take on the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
