Grudge Match: Playing a tightly-contested game that featured 13 ties and 11 lead changes, the Terps fell to No. 7 Duke despite a team-high 19 points from Landon Milbourne.
Maryland's No. 1: Forward Landon Milbourne continued to play particularly well during conference play, contributing 19 points on 6 of 8 shooting and five rebounds against Duke. He also tied a career high with four blocked shots. Milbourne, who is averaging 13.2 points per game against ACC opponents, now has led the team in scoring on 11 occasions this season. Wednesday's game marked Milbourne's 18th double-digit scoring performance of the season.
Venezuelan Sensation: One game after registering Maryland's first triple-double in 22 years, guard Greivis Vasquez enjoyed solid production yet again. Despite spending much of the game in foul trouble, Vasquez notched 10 points, six rebounds and five assists versus the Blue Devils. Making his 63rd consecutive start, Vasquez now has scored in double figures in 60 of his last 64 contests.
How About Hayes: Guard Eric Hayes connected on four of his five field goal attempts Wednesday en route to 10 points off the bench. With the shot clocking winding down just more than five minutes into the second half, Hayes hit an off-balance 3-pointer to knot the game at 45.
Buoyed by Bowie: When Greivis Vasquez had to sit out during the second half with foul trouble, fellow guard Adrian Bowie picked up the slack. The sophomore scored all but four of his 14 points versus Duke during the second half.
Points in the Paint: Maryland scored 40 points in the paint Wednesday night compared to just 26 for Duke. That total represents the team's third best points in the paint differential during conference play this season.
Hot Shooting: The Terps carried a relatively hot hand from the field Wednesday night, shooting 48 percent from the floor, including 53.6 percent shooting (15 of 28) during the first half.
Ball Security: Maryland continued to take excellent care of the basketball at home, committing just 11 turnovers against the Blue Devils. It marked the 14th time during 2008-09 the Terps have recorded 12 or fewer turnovers in a game.
Record Book Updates: With five helpers against Duke, Greivis Vasquez tied John Lucas (1973-76) for fourth place in school history with 514 career assists. Vasquez also tallied 10 points, enabling him to pass Tony Massenburg (1986, 88-90) to equal his jersey number by claiming 21st place all-time with 1,446 career points.
Trey Streak Intact: With Dave Neal's 3-point basket early in the second half, the Terps extended their streak of hitting at least one shot from beyond the arc to 347 consecutive games.
