WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Maryland women's tennis team battled for a while against 37th-ranked Wake Forest but was unable to get on track in singles and eventually fell to the Demon Deacons 6-1 Saturday.

The Demon Deacons (11-4, 2-1) clinched the match when Sasha Kulikova, the 51st-ranked player in the country, edged Eleanor Peters 7-6, 6-3 at No. 1 singles.

Lisa Miller put the Terps on the scoreboard with a 2-6, 7-5, 1-0 win over Katarina Reveche at No. 5 singles.

Maryland nearly started off the match by stealing the doubles point. With doubles even at 1-all, Wake Forest got an 8-7 win from Emilee Malvehy and Aileen Davis against Maggie MacKeever and Karin Lundmark.

The Terps (3-11, 0-4) are back in action Sunday at NC State.
