COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The University of Maryland men's basketball team will travel to Indiana on Dec. 1 as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, it was announced on Wednesday.
The Terrapins and Hoosiers will meet as part of the 11th annual challenge, with the 11-game series being played on Nov. 30, Dec. 1 and Dec. 2. The Atlantic Coast Conference has won the Commissioner's Cup in the previous 10 seasons the event has been contested.
Times and network designations will be announced at a later date. The 11 games will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks.
The most significant meeting between Maryland and Indiana came on April 1, 2002, when the Terrapins scored a 64-52 victory to earn the NCAA National Championship. Eight months later, on Dec. 3, 2002, the Hoosiers picked up an 80-74 win in a Big Ten/ACC Challenge matchup at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
The Terps will be making their first-ever trip to Assembly Hall.
Maryland is 7-3 in Big Ten/ACC Challenge games and has won four straight, including a Dec. 2008 victory over Michigan.
Michigan State will play at North Carolina, also on Dec. 1, in a rematch of the 2009 NCAA Tournament final. Those same two teams met in last year's Challenge.
