Continuing his success into the outdoor season, freshman Dwight Barbiasz placed second at the final day of the Penn Relays with a season-best 7-2.25 in the high jump.
The Terrapins ran a time of 1:36.25 (10th) in the 4x200 trials, then went 1:36.44 in the final to earn a third place finish in the ECAC division. Chanel Williams, Melony McKay, DeAnna Brown and D'Ambour Lewis ran the third place mark in the finals.
Also for Maryland, Anthony Walker, Jeremy Samuels, Zach Ray and Floyd Hawkes finished fourth in the men's 4x200. With a time of 1:25.63, the team ran a season-best for the Terps in the event.
Maryland athletes will be preparing to host the Maryland Twilight Meet that will be held at Kehoe Track Complex beginning at 5 pm.
Terrapin Notes
The women's 4x100 relay team captured a season-best time of 46.40. Alexis Booker, D'Ambour Lewis, Ashley Hendrix and DeAnna Brown all contributed efforts to the fourth place finish in the ECAC division of the event.
Chanel Williams, Katie Rogus, Ashley Hendrix and Kiani Profit also contributed great efforts in today's shuttle hurdles event. With their time of 58.86, they placed fourth for the Terps
David Edwards-Brennan placed ninth with a 6-6.75 jump in the eastern division of the long jump.
The men's sprint medley relay team had a good showing in the event. Floyd Hawkes, Anthony Walker, Jeremy Samuels and Tommy Friscia ran a 3:23.43.
Christina Nelson, Melony McKay, Kelley Pry and Erin Matyus had a collective time of 11:49.75 earning a third-place finish in the distance medley to lead University of Maryland performances during the first day of competition at the Penn Relays on Thursday.
In the long jump, Ashley Hendrix jumped her way to a tenth place finish with her mark of 18-8.75 and placed seventh in the shot put with a mark of 45-8.5 and threw a 152-2 mark in the hammer throw.
