Seven Terps Capture Career-Bests at Maryland Twilight

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Ashley Hendrix and Kiani Profit both posted career best marks in the women's long jump as the Terps hosted the Maryland Twilight at the University of Maryland's Kehoe track and field complex.
A freshman, Hendrix placed first jumping 19-01.25 while sophomore Profit finished second with a jump of 18-11.75. Hendrix's jump qualifies her for the event at next weekend's ECAC Championship in Princeton, N.J.
Profit posted an NCAA regional qualifying time of 1:00.27 in the 400 meter hurdles. She first qualified for the NCAA Regionals with her 59.77 time at the Pepsi Florida Relays.
Christina Nelson also qualified for the ECAC Championships with her first place finish in the 1,500 meter run. Running a 4:31.72 time in the event, the junior posted a career-best.
In the discus, Kristin Batts also captured a career-best mark while improving on her ECAC qualifying throw. The sophomore placed first and earned ten points for Maryland throwing 153-01.
Starting the evening off in the meet's first series of events, both Alexis Booker and DeAnna Brown improved on their ECAC qualifying marks in the 100 meter dash. Capturing a season-best mark, Booker placed second with a time of 12.04 behind D'Amour Lewis who finished first in 11.97. Brown scored a season-best time of 12.09 in third-place.
Also competing in the 200 meters for Maryland, Brown placed first with a career best time of 24.69 and Booker finished second with a career-best time of 25.01.
In her last home meet as a Terrapin, Chanel Williams finished the 100 meter hurdles in 14.08.
On the men's side, freshman Dwight Barbiasz placed first in the men's high jump with a mark of 6-10.75 with David Edwards-Brennan finishing not too far behind in second place with a 6-06.75 jump.
Jarenn Stewart ran a career-best time running 11.21 to place fourth in the 100 meters. The freshman also earned a career-best in the long jump posting a mark of 22-11.25, ahead of Zach Ray who placed second with a 22-08.00 jump.
Jeremy Samuels placed second in the 400 meters running a time of 48.43. The junior qualified for the IC4A Championships earlier this season with his time of 47.44 at the Pepsi Florida Relays.
The Terrapins will prepare as they send qualifying athletes to the ECAC Championships beginning Friday, May 15 hosted by Princeton University.
