Maryland freshman Katie Schwarzmann has been tabbed "Athlete of the Decade" by the Carroll County Times.
A three-sport standout, excelling in soccer, basketball and lacrosse, Schwarzmann was named first-team All-Decade in all three sports.
She was three-time all-county in both soccer and basketball, earning Player of the Year honors in basketball in 2007.
But it's lacrosse that is Schwarzmann's bread and butter. The Century High School star was four-time all-county, garnering a pair of Player of the Year awards and guiding the Knights to three state championships. For icing on the cake, Schwarzmann ended her prep career as the county's all-time leading scorer.
