COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland opens its Atlantic Coast Conference schedule with a Sunday-evening home game against Florida State. The Terrapins are among three teams which have yet to play a league game at this point in the month (North Carolina and Virginia Tech play later Sunday night). The Terps come into tonight's game having won four of their last five and five of their last seven.

The game will be televised live nationally on Fox Sports Net. It can also be heard across the Terrapin Sports Radio Network, including Baltimore flagships WJZ-FM (105.7), WJZ-AM (1300). In Washington, D.C., the game will be heard on WJFK-FM (106.7). Pregame begins at 4:30 p.m. on the network.

  • The Terps come into the game off their best offensive performance of the year in a 97-63 victory at UNC Greensboro last Sunday. Greivis Vasquez had 24 points and Landon Milbourne added 22 as the Terps shot 55 percent from the floor. Maryland also hit 22 of 28 free throws in running its record to 9-4 overall this season, including a 2-0 mark on the road.

  • Earlier this week, Greivis Vasquez was named as a finalist for the Cousy Award. Presented by the National Basketball Hall of Fame, the award annually recognizes the top point guard in the nation. Vasquez is one of 20 finalists for the award.

  • Vasquez seems to have hit his stride offensively in a streak dating back to late November. He currently has a string of nine straight games in which he's scored in double figures, averaging 21.7 points per game in that stretch. He has five straight games with at least 20 points, averaging 24.6 ppg in that string. In his last five games, Vasquez is hitting .554 from the floor, .414 from 3-point range and .864 from the foul line. His scoring average has gone from 7.5 to 17.3 ppg in the last nine games.

  • Senior guard Eric Hayes is moving closer to the 1,000-point plateau. He needs just 24 points to become the 48th player in Maryland history to reach 1,000 in his career.
