PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - Newcomer Ana Belzunce had a solid showing for the Terps at the ITA/Riviera Women's All-American Championship.
Belzunce knocked off Claire Bartlett of Florida Saturday in the opening round of the pre-qualifying draw.
However, the junior transfer was upended in the next round later that day by Lucia Batta of UNLV 6-1, 6-4.
"Ana's win over a very fine player on a strong team is not surprising given her considerable skill," Maryland head coach Howard Joffe said. "It's a nice boost for our group to see some success in a national event"
