Terps Play Florida Southern in Exhibition

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland plays host to Florida Southern in its lone exhibition game of the season on Monday night. The Terrapins are a week away from opening their 2010-11 regular season against Seattle University in a regional round of the 2K Sports Classic Benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer.

The Terrapins open the new season with three seniors - Adrian Bowie, Cliff Tucker and Dino Gregory - who have combined to make 47 starts in their previous three seasons. Junior Sean Mosley is the leading returning scorer (10.1 points per game last year), while sophomore Jordan Williams is the top returning rebounder (8.6 boards per game).

Williams has received preseason attention nationally after posting a pair of double-doubles in his two NCAA Tournament games a year ago. Athlon has Williams among its honorable mention preseason All-Americans and tabbed him as the fourth-leading post player to watch nationally. Williams is also on the preseason top-50 for the Wooden Award.

Maryland head coach Gary Williams enters his 22nd season at his alma mater and his 33rd season overall. His 649 victories place him fifth on the list of NCAA Division I victories among active coaches. His 442 victories at Maryland place him third all-time in victories among coaches while at an ACC school.

Florida Southern lost at Butler, 90-70, on Saturday in its first of three exhibition games against Division I opponents. The Moccasins, the defending regular-season co-champions in the Sunshine State Conference, were ranked fifth nationally in the preseason by Division II Bulletin.

Maryland defeated Indiana, Pa., 75-54, in last season's exhibition game.
