Tipping Off: Maryland improved to 2-0 on the season with its 75-74 win over College of Charleston ... the Terps are now 71-7 in non-conference games at Comcast Center ... Maryland is now 7-1 all-time in what is their third appearance in the Coaches vs. Cancer event (1-1 in 2001, 4-0 in 2006). The Terps won the tournament championship in 2006.
Career Best For Williams: Jordan Williams established several career highs against C of C. He set new career marks in points (26), field goals made (12), field goals attempted (21) and tied his career high with two steals. The sophomore nearly had a double-double in the first half; he went to the break with a team-high 12 points and nine rebounds. He posted his fourth straight double double.
Banging the Boards: Jordan Williams posted 15 rebounds for the second straight game, just shy of his career-high 17 vs. Houston in the 2010 NCAA Tournament (3/19). Dating back to last season, he has posted double digit rebounds in four straight games and nine of his last 12.
Double Figures For Tucker: With15 points tonight, senior Cliff Tucker has scored in double figures in both of Maryland's game this season. It is the second time in Tucker's career he has scored in double figures in back-to-back games (also 12/22/09 vs. Winston-Salem State, 12/27/09 vs. Florida Atlantic).
Un-Freshman-Like Effort: Freshman point guard Pe'Shon Howard came up huge for the Terrapins, knocking down the game-winning shot with less than five seconds left. His deep jumper with 1:16 left had brought the Terps within two at 72-74. On the evening, Howard made 6 of 7 shots from the field for 14 points and had four assists and two steals.
Tidbits: Maryland was dominant in the paint, outscoring the Cougars 56-26 ... the Terps also had a 22-15 edge in points from the bench ... Maryland has now shot at least 50 percent in each of its first two games (35-62, .565 vs. Seattle; 34-66, .515 vs. C of C) ... there were 13 ties and four lead changes in the game ... after making 33 free throws against Seattle on Monday, the most by the Terps since 2006, they made just 5 of 18 against Charleston ... eight different Terrapins made a field goal against Charleston ... the teams tied in the rebound battle, 36-36.
Game Trends: After Andrew Goudelock made a 3-pointer to give C of C its largest lead at 37-28 with 2:32 left in the first half, Maryland went on a 9-0 run to close the period and tie the game ... After a free throw by Donavan Monroe gave C of C a 74-68 lead with 2:42 left in the game, Maryland went on a 7-0 run to close the game. Cliff Tucker had a jumper, Howard had a jumper, Williams had a jumper and Howard had the game-winner.
