Maryland opens December with its first game in a hostile arena when it travels to Penn State for a matchup in the 12th annual ACC / Big Ten Challenge. The Terrapins have played two games away from Comcast Center thus far, both in Madison Square Garden in the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer.
The Terrapins are riding a five-game winning streak in the ACC / Big Ten Challenge and are 8-3 all-time in the series. The Terrapins have beaten Minnesota, Illinois twice, Michigan and Indiana since their last loss in the series, a 2004 defeat to Wisconsin.
Maryland is riding a two-game winning streak overall this season, having rebounded from their Madison Square Garden losses with victories last week over Delaware State and Elon. The Terps' only two losses came at Madison Square Garden to then-No. 4 Pittsburgh and then-No. 13 Illinois, with each being two-possession games in the final minute.
Sophomore center Jordan Williams continues his hot streak to open the season. He has five double-doubles in Maryland's first seven games is averaging a double-double at 17.4 points and 11.9 rebounds per game. He had 24 points and 13 boards in last Friday's 76-57 win against Elon.
Despite the relative proximity between the schools, the Terrapins are meeting the Nittany Lions in men's basketball for the first time since 1990.
