COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland men's basketball team plays host to the College of Charleston on Wednesday evening in a special 7 p.m. tipoff. Fans should check the traffic advisory below for information regarding alternate and suggested routes to Comcast Center.
Maryland is playing its second game in three nights, hosting a regional round of the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer. The Terrapins put four players in double figures, including sophomore Jordan Williams' double-double on Monday in a 105-76 victory over Seattle University.
The Terrapins finish a frenzied start to the 2010-11 schedule on Sunday when they host Maine at 2 p.m. The matchup with the Black Bears give the Terrapins three games in seven days to open the season.
Williams finished with 17 points and 15 rebounds for the Terrapins on Monday, extending a streak of double-doubles to three games, including the two NCAA Tournament games last season. The sophomore center has been placed on the Preseason top 50 for the Wooden Award.
Sean Mosley led Maryland with 21 points against the Redhawks, including an 8-for-10 effort at the free throw line. Cliff Tucker added 16 points, while freshman Terrell Stoglin had 15 points, including a 9-for-9 performance at the line.
Maryland hit 33 free throws in the game, shooting 81 percent. The most free throws the Terrapins hit in any game last season was 24.
The Cougars will be opening their season against the Terrapins with a familiar face patrolling the sideline. Former Georgia Tech head coach Bobby Cremins is in his fifth season at the College of Charleston.
Senior guard Andrew Goudelock is the leading returning scorer for the Cougars, having averaged 19.4 points per game last year. He was voted the preseason player of the year in the Southern Conference.
