The Creig Northrop Team of Long & Foster Real Estate is turning to sports marketing not only to support University of Maryland Athletics but also to help the military and their families through the USO of Metropolitan Washington. The Team has launched its sponsorship of the Hoops for Heroes program in conjunction with Maryland Men's Basketball.

For each three-pointer scored by the Terps during the 2010-2011 regular season, The Creig Northrop Team of Long & Foster Real Estate will donate one hundred dollars to the USO of Metropolitan Washington.

"Being a part of this program means a lot to The Northrop Team," said Creig Northrop, President of The Creig Northrop Team of Long & Foster Real Estate. "I graduated from the University of Maryland in 1988, and really grew up as a Terps fan all my life. It's an honor to be involved with the Men's Basketball program in such a meaningful way this year. We are also thankful for the men and women who serve our country so when the opportunity became available to support the USO, we jumped on it."

Terrapin Sports Marketing, the corporate partnership arm of Maryland Athletics, matched The Creig Northrop Team of Long & Foster Real Estate's interest in the military and Terps basketball with the Hoops for Heroes program. The sponsorship not only benefits two deserving organizations but also strengthens The Creig Northrop Team of Long & Foster Real Estate's awareness throughout the region.

In addition to the promotion, Terrapin Sports Marketing is providing a multi-level, fully integrated marketing campaign surrounding the men's basketball program.

"The USO of Metropolitan Washington relies on special event fundraising and the generosity of private individuals and corporations to fund our programs," said Elaine Rogers, President. "We are delighted that The Northrop Team is supporting the Hoops for Heroes program that will do great things for our military personnel and their families. We're cheering for the Terrapins to have a fantastic and high-scoring season."

Maryland Men's Basketball Head Coach Gary Williams said, "The USO has done a terrific job for our injured soldiers and their families at area hospitals. Thanks to Creig Northrop and The Northrop Team for their generosity in providing one hundred dollars for each three point field goal we make this year, to the USO. Hopefully we will shoot the ball well from the three point line."
